ATTENTION HERPERS:
If you keep reptiles, amphibians or exotics, and feel that people should be FREE to do so in this country, then PLEASE make your voice heard concerning the proposed federal law changes (view pdf posting). These changes not only affect the large members of the genera Boa and Python, but also the most common, inoffensive pet species, Python regius (ball python). PETA and the Humane Society of the United States would LOVE to ban the keeping all herps, exotics and now are lobbying to do so. The FWC (Florida Wildlife Commission) has already instituted a restrictive permit system on large pythons and boas, yet now the USFW and the LOBBYIESTS are trying to get in on the act as well. Make no mistake, this is not about large “dangerous” snakes, it is about our freedom to safely keep the exotics we love in our homes, and OUR FREEDOMS IN GENERAL! Regulations like these are stepping stones that allow these individuals to gain more and more ground on OUR RIGHTS! Once one is in place and a court precedent is set…more regulations follow and MORE FREEDOMS ARE LOST! If you believe that people should have the same right to keep these snakes as they do the MUCH MORE DANGEROUS and accepted horses, dogs, and cats…PLEASE TAKE ACTION! We are dealing with a bloated federal government, crooked politicians and lobbyists who are buying our freedoms!
WE MUST JOIN AS A COHESIVE VOICE AGAINST THESE VIOLATIONS OF OUR RIGHTS. RESPONSIBLE PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT TO OWN AND CARE FOR THESE ANIMALS…LET’S NOT GIVE IT AWAY BY DOING NOTHING!
Write to them here.
